What kind of batteries do they need and how long is the battery life???

simple AA batteries, rechargeable or not. else, battery-pack available from MS or 3rd-party sellers. if played for say 3-4 days a week for about 2 hours a day, those lasted me for about a month or more. PS3 controller on the other hand fares bad in comparison.
