Micromax Launches Solar Phone, X259 [Charge Your Phone Using Solar Energy]

Micromax launches another phone X259 within its feature phone category today. And the innovative part is that it is equipped with the ability of solar charging. It has got a solar panel which will help you charge this phone using the sunlight. And it will cost you just Rs 2,499.

Now that’s something interesting. A phone + a solar charger + a normal charger = your phone battery never dies. Hell yeah! We have got a ‘Rajnikanth phone’ in our hands.

Well, jokes apart, it is a good feature phone with a 2.4 inch QVGA screen and a screen resolution of 240x320. It has got a 0.3 MP camera at its back and 1000mAh battery under the hood. Also it has got GPRS and Bluetooth connectivity. Internal memory can be expanded upto 4 GB, thus giving the users a vast storage space.

At such a low cost, it is a good feature phone. But the solar charger, I don’t think it is much useful. What are your opinions?

Samsung had launched a similar phone couple of years back, it was cheap as well but it didn't gain much attraction.

they should have added a dynamo for powering the phone during night.. we already have Dynamo powered flashlight
