Bioware have revealed that the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 has ‘gone gold’ – meaning work on the game has been completed – and more importantly, that the game is going to use the engine they created for Mass Effect 3. This will make the game visually superior to its XBOX 360 version.

In a company podcast, PS3 version producer Jesse Houston had this to say:
"One of the first things you're going to see is improved graphics. We actually created the engine for Mass Effect 3 and used that to make Mass Effect 2 PS3. So we took the content, the story and all of the other assets that made up Mass Effect 2 and we put it into the Mass Effect 3 engine."

Houston also confirmed various other additions – such as a new control scheme (players will still be able to switch back to the old one) and improvements to the planet scanning mini-game. Apart from the DLCs, the game will also include all the patches and bug-fixes that were released for the 360 version.
