Really, as always, a nice review
I cant help notice Mandriva's step motherly treatment towards LP though .....

Its not Mandriva either its Phonon or the beta version of Amarok,, tracks work fine with SMplayer so it must be Amarok..

I found 2008.1 severely bloated. [on friend's PC with 1gig RAM, 965 chipset]

Except for the start-up time (about 90 secs), 2008.1 worked smoothly on a machine with 845 chipset, 1 gig ram last I installed it.

The live CD was getting tasks done faster in this case..
