Think Zen.
Today developers instead of creating whole distros environment create distros based on a Stable and Secure distros. Like in Linux world there are 3 Most stable and old distros.. Debian , Gentoo , Red Hat aka Fedora.
WTH!! Where's Slackware?
Slackware's the Oldest Distro.
The shootout's ok...but the set of distro's chosen is somewhat small.

I see right through you.
The set of distros is definitely too small. Where's Fedora? Is it not an upcoming latest distro?

Well to me it seems a review of what would be more suitable to a home user. Slackware is anything but that.
And to really review slackware you have to use it for some period of time and understand it and the philosophy behind it.

Oops.I posted a different thing that what i thought.
I meant where slackware was in the list of 'old' distros in his review.
And yea ur right, Slackware needs to be used to a while before judged.
But he could've tried to review some distro's based on it.
Vector and ZenWalk are pretty good for the home user.

left this forum longback
may be slax will do?and also remember .tgz package format.
personally i dont think slackware got any big market share.it is like a cult of kde+slackware fans and their leader as peter volkerding and few devels hardworking for the distro

.few years back, slackware created disappointment for their Gnome users by completely removing Gnome  yes, replacement Gnome are available from dropline etc then also..

Yeah,dropping gnome was sad.
I hated that part. But slackware has a good number of die hard fans.
Read this once in a forum,
Once u go slack, you'll never go back
And i believe its true.
Once u start using slackware u'll love it.
