lost disk space

Hi all,

I want help from all pundits out there.
I have problem regarding Win xp.
Few days back i started getting warning for a low disk space.
I click the balloon & used Disk cleanup. No result .Then i uninstalled some
programs , still no result.
On the other hand i found out that with every uninstallation the disk free space getting diminished .
What is going on ?????????
Pl. some help....
I have a samsung 40gb HDD with 4 parttion ,WIn 98SE on C:, WinXP PRO on D:, with AMD athlon 2400+ in ASUS motherboard and 512 ram.

When was the last time you checked for viruses in your machine? Do that ASAP.

if u r using norton 2004, then right click recycle bin and clear norton protected files , this will definitely help

Thanks for the help.
But i want to mention something .
I have avg free installed and i want share some info.

I have installed clonecd 5.1,it showed the trial period expired and now i have uninstalled it and i think i have got back some space.
Also as i am using broadband some i had to disable the PCI internal modem and uninstall its driver.

So is this two be responsible ?
Any suggestions will be a great help.
