So what to do???????? is there any good PCI-Express card available or should i go for 865GBF Mobo.

There is a confusion again in my mind.

The place where i work i have a AMD Athlon XP 2800+ with 512 MB DDR RAM, yesterday i had a file to render in Adobe Aftereffects, for a Resolution of 720 x 612 it took a 2hrs 38min. & the same thing i put it on a Dual Xeon Processor with 2GB of RAM with a resolution of 2048 x 1742 it rendered it in a whopping 2hrs 13min.

this means Xeon is really fast. The price difference of the Xeon & P4 3.0 HT is somwhere around 5K to 7K, so is it worth to go for a xeon based machine.

Wat r ur suggestions on this....

pciE cards are available
x600 for 17k .. but its not as good as the 9800 pro ... cuz its supposed to compete with the 9600
like i said go for an amd...
for this newer intel chipset u have to wait till next year sets in .. and we see the technologies settling in
and no u cant upgrade to a xeon machine .. cuz effectively all ur costs will go up.. even the mobo
xeon are server machines .. specially dual processors ...
those ARE NOT meant for the comsumer market yet ...

Gigabyte is something I can recomend without any doubt, I had a Radeon 9600 Pro, but now have a FX5900XT, more compatible then Radeons & drivers are also lower in size, besides feature wise it is batter then Radeon 9800 Pro

well atleast in india powercolors are pretty bad ...
the ones abroad get rated quite well SURPRISINGLY !!
id suggest the same .. but in this order
1) HERCULES
2) GIGABYTE
3) CLUB3d
thats cuz one of the hercules 9800 pros had a blue LED fan on it :D

yeah the powercolors available here are crippled in some way or the other. For eg: the 9800pro has 128 bit bus, the 9600pro has a EZ verison which has 400/400 rates rather than 400/600 clock rates ! Sheesh.........

The powercolor 9800pro comes with 128bit memory rather than 256bit memory. I got a Club3d 9800pro for 15k today, best bang for the buck.See if you can lay ur hands on one. Stat away frm 5900XT or better frm the fx series.

EDIT: Hey raven, ist that poem u have in the siggy frm Edgar Allen Poe ?

Well i think you are better of with this setup,

Intel P4 3.2GHz 800FSB +HT
Asus P4C800 Motherboard [based on 875P chipset]
1 GB DDR400 RAM which shud be configured in Dual Channel,Transcend is the best bet.
Settle for XFX GeforceFX 5700 Ultra GDDR3 128 MB.You mentioned that you want to work in grafix so Nvidia card is better as their Opengl performance is better.Or you can go for a very basic Quadro level card.

2 x 80 GB Seagate SATA Drives configured in RAID 0.RAID will hel a lot.

Monitor:Vewsonic E71 17" -- > very good choice.Try to go for 19" if possible.

ATX Cabinet :400W ----> Whichever cabinet you go for,get KPPL/Powersafe SMPS,do not settle for anything other than that.

Keyboard : Logitech Black Keyboard -----> Good Enough

Mouse : Logitech Optical Mouse-----> See if you can get hold of MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0,it is very good.

I would suggest you to stay away from 915/925 chipset based system at the moment. Adapting to these setups is better after a new revision of these chipsets comes up.

Right now.LGA 775 based systems isnt worth the money you pay.

Other day i was looking at the Original Intel 915 based board,it is such a pathetic board,it costs around 7-7.5k,is based on 915G,compare it with the Asus P4C800 which costs 9500-10,000/- and is 100 times superior in performance. Not to mention that the 875P is still so powerful, it has beaten even the 925X in some benchies.

Also many reputed Motherboard Manufacturers are making boards for the LGA 775 with 875P chipset exclusively targetting the overclocking community.
Right now, when it comes to overclocking nothing can beat the 875P/865PE chipsets, not even the 925X forget the 915P.

I hope this helps you in making a good buy.

but still thanks to config provided by u & i'll definately have a look at it, thanx again..

for graphic card i'm getting
=>Club 3d ATI radeon 9800pro128 14800
=>powercolor 9800pro 256 13500 yes its true i've confirmed it but i wont buy it as per ur suggestions

Well firstly its a frm the FX series, which sucks royally imo. Then it's a XT which is a slower version of the stock 5900 or 5950. So in a nutshell it aint worth the money. Better get a new 9800pro or wait for the prices of the newer cards to dive down. But that will take some time ...... :D

[flAsh]

In the zone
i would go with AMD64 config only replacing processor with AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ & mobo with ASUS K8N-E DELUX
