I am still in the planning stage and going through lots of computer magazines. To add to my problem I have no broadband right now and am using 28kb/s dialup....which really s***s looking up reviews and pictures.

Now here is a new motherboard I saw and has some new features like PCO-E slots. I am hoping to build my system based on this board and get the basic blueprint before I do any shopping in April. I think more boards similar to this will show up around that time.

Now my intention is to get your opinions on what configuration should this board do best with and still be economical?

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe nVidia Socket 939 Motherboard / PCI Express / Audio / Dual Gigabit LAN / Serial ATA / Dual RAID / USB 2.0 & Firewire

Hey theraven this is India so please give the rates in Rupees and not in dollars. Anyways the config by theraven is quite good. But sharon since you are planning to buy in April wait for it, let the budget come by then as it might press the prices further down, and hopefully the condition would be more clear for you. Meanwhile keep checking the forum for more better configurations.

Hey "theraven", Thank you for your response and suggestions. All your suggestions made my blueprint for a dream pc mature a bit more. I am a novic as i said before and had no idea what graphics card it would need.

In the photo gallery of this motherboard I saw a card named nVIDIA SLI....is it a GPU too?

Thank you for the HD info too, I wasn't too sure if my 200gb Seagate IDE drives would go in there, I used to think it only worked with HD's with SATA connection (I have no idea what it means.....lol).

Thanks again.

As for now, I am getting a USB HD Enclosure to take those two 200Gb Seagate HD's off the Xbox and format them. The problem is the current Xbox HD's are full of pictures and music (+ some modded games) and I need to back them up before I format them and I just have 30Gb on the laptop and two spare retail Xbox drives (8Gb and 10Gb).

Hey Sharon, SLI is not a GPU but it is a technology through which you can attach two GPUs in your PC. SLI stands for Scalable Link Interface. For more info about it click here *www.nvidia.com/page/sli.html.

Hey theraven this is India so please give the rates in Rupees and not in dollars.
shes from canada
and she wanted the prices from that website
so stfu if u dunno whats going on

@sharon if u already have a hdd or 2 they will work with ur new pc
so dun buy a new one
the mobo will have IDE slots as well for ur hdd
ofcourse here im guessing the hard disks attatch to the xbox thru IDE as it does to the PC :D
so basically what im askin is are those hard disks essentially for a pc?
then they will work with ur new pc.. no problems whatsoever
SATA is a diff technology and ur motheboard will be supporting it ... but that doesnt mean u HAVE to use SATA disks
hope this clears things up
as for sli geek_rohit has already provided the link..
cheers

SLI? Why?

Why would anyone want to go for SLI unless they have Loads of money lying around the house and kids come and make bon-fires out of it? It is soo expensive. It is buggy. and it needs the gf 6800 cards. It is very very silly to go in for SLI right now. Instead of that, you could invest your money in something much much better....like RAM!

dude shut up
just cuz u go for an sli board doesnt mean u HAVE to go for sli cards and enable SLI
there is an option to use a sinlge card
besides this is the best board in the market for a 939 chipset and its a great deal on it
and whats ur problem if someone wants to buy it ?
what if she has the money and wants to go for 2 cards ?
darklord has 2 6800 GT's in SLI
do u wanna go argue with him as to why he wasted money ?
sheesh
