locking the system file-available or not

Sometimes system files are deleted or missed or corrupted either by mistake or unfortunately. Is there any option available in both Windows XP Home and Professional Editions to lock all their system files by giving a password to avoid such problems?

Actually you can't view the system files such as autoexec.bat , config.sys etc in windows XP.So there is no question of you deleting it within the Os and even if you try to do s windows won't allow you to do so! However if you use other oses such as win98 on other partitions then try not playing with the system files.
