Check out the files inside this directory:
/etc/X11/xkb/keymap/*
these files, especially the file xfree86 defines the xkb keymap ...

Thank you!
I want to know about editing the keymap files or creating new keymap files with some keys for some text. i.e. for example if I press F1 it should type as TRICHY. Some other key should type Trichy <enter> Trichy. i.e. pressing a single key should give text + Pressing<enter> key+another text part. Is it possible? Please guide me....
(Formerly we used a private utility to use unix software from dos and that utility allowed all the above. Now our company (A PSU)shifted entirely to linux.)

Ok.. I know some people who are into localization of GNOME... and then let you know abt your specific query !
