Linux grub boot loader creation help

I installed xp then mandriva but i lost grub loader....system directly boots into xp....anyway 2 get back 2 grub or may be windows boot only but atleast an option 2 get to linux...

1. Opened a terminal as the root user.
2. Entered grub (we're now are in a command line interface shell for GRUB).
3. Entered root (hd2,0) (setting the boot drive where most of GRUB, and the system kernel files are).
4. Entered find (hd2,0)/grub/stage1 (the first file GRUB uses to boot up from). This step may not be necessary, but I wasn't about to erase a master bootblock, and try again, just to see if it was.
5. Received a list of drives partitions where it could be installed (as far as I could tell). According to their guide, this is a list of where it finds the “stage1” file, which was clearly nonsense (as it was not on the drives listed).
6. Entered setup (hd0) (to install the bootloader to the drive my system BIOS boots up).
7. Entered quit (to properly exit from the GRUB command line interface shell).

Boot with a live CD that has Grub and issue the following commands as root:

1. grub
2. root (hd0,0) (The first zero represents your first harddrive and the second zero represents the first partition. Replace them with the partition of your Mandriva install
3. setup (hd0)

if the above two methods are confusing you then simply use super GRUB disk.

guys i thnk u a lot fr helping out...infact i installed d whole thing again...but i messed up wit timezone...1st of all....it doesnt support indian timezone.....2nd m not able 2 change time 2 local time....if i try it hangs up....ne idea abt this?

Totally wrong!
It supports GMT +530 time zone
Look for Asia/calcutta

i guess i neva saw gmt530....infact it didnt ever mention timezone just the location wich didnt had india thr...
