Counter strike mostly but love to have a laptop which can play most of the current games :|

I'm thinking of nex gen i5, 2-3 gb DDR3 ram, 320-500gb hdd, usb 3.0.

Request you to suggest some laptops.

Also is Acer's , asus service good in India (Mumbai) ?

Which company should I go for ? this is my 1st laptop :p

Edit : 1 more thing I noticed when I went to see the laptops , Acer with inbuild graphics had "5.1" as graphics rating by windows 7 whereas sony with 1gb nvidia had 4.7 :|

Its without OS though

Same config as above though with OS included (win 7 )

The one you mentioned is also ok, but since you'll also be using visual studio, photoshop, and dreamweaver like products, so my suggestion will be to opt for as much ram as possible. The asus ones a mentioned have got more ram, a bit better gfx, and 1 gb+ ram; but no usb 3.0

For sure, you can install win 7 on any system. :)

the reason for this may be the weaker GPUs used by sony in its lower bracket of lappis such as 5470, 410m, etc which have got lower gfx capability than Intel HD3000. Intel HD3000 is near comparable to 520m (just a bit less than 520m)

My friend bought a HP Pavilion g 1200tx for Rs. 35500. Intel I3 2.2 ghz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 1GB Radeon graphics and some free accessories.

I'm looking for this config:-

2nd gen i5, 500gb hdd, 3-4gb ram,usb 3.0 ports, good gfx and good service.

I'm thinking to purchase laptop in this diwali as I may get few freebies with it.

Edit : my friend purchased this laptop for Rs 36000 . Hows the gfx of that laptop ?

Its just 1.5k more, and if you buy locally, you'll get at least 1k more discount.

Your friend's laptop has GT525m, thats fine, if not enough. But its only marginally better than 520M of asus lappi. With addition of nearly 7-8k, you're getting gfx worth 1K (I suppose), excellent ASS, win 7 OS and 2430M procy instead 2410 thats it. Its worth.

What does "Dell Exclusive store" mean ? How are they different from other shops ?

There is "dell exclusive store" in Lamington , is it safe to purchase from their ? or will it be cheaper to purchase from a dealer?

buy from other store. it'll definitely be cheaper or try flipkart.

I got a quote for Asus model

Specs
2nd gen i5 2410
4gb ram
500gb hdd
1.5gb GT540M graphic card
15.6 "

Price : 36k and for 2nd gen i5 2430 processor , he quoted 38.5k.

They (Mccann infosys) told me they are authorized dealers of Asus.

I'm confused whether to go for 2430 or 2410 , googling it now.

one more question , what are the different types of keyboard available in laptops and which one is most preferred ? Sorry , but I'm a noob :|

I'm not sure abt the model number, he said N series something.

I couldn't find such config laptop in flipkart ,ebay etc :?

I had emailed Asus India, they gave me mobile number of their sales executive.I'll ask him about authorized dealers in lamington.
