Kinston Technology, a leading supplier of memory modules, demonstrated on Thursday its ability to overclock its HyperX DDR3 memory modules to unprecedented clock-speed with the help of a mainboard running Nvidia Corp.’s next-generation core-logic that supports DDR3 memory.

The memory module maker overclocked its HyperX PC3-16000 (KHX16000D2K2/2G) memory modules from their default clock-speed of 2.0GHz to 2.13GHz using a mainboard powered by yet unannounced Nvidia nForce 790i core-logic for Intel Corp.’s processors. At press time it was unclear which latency and voltage settings were set.

^^Will be **** expensive....
Gotta wait for atleast a year before they become affordable:|

@nvidia : u need to wait for more than that , will take atleast 2-3 yrs

i wonder when DDR4 will release :D
GDDR5 has already hit prototype graphics cards from the AMD HD4xxx series
GDDR4 has already hit most of the AMD Radeon HD3870 cards
GDDR3 is there in every respectable graphics card

and sadly, PCs are faaaaaaaaar behind.
its even surprising to note that by subtracting costs for graphics cards of the same model from the same company with different RAMs, you may find that 512 mb GDR3 ram costs only Rs. 1000 extra:eek:

So PC DDR3 ram is still highly overpriced.

Interfacing DDR3/4/5 etc. with the gfx card components is easier than doing the same on the mobo. There are so many constraints. Its not an easy job. It'll take time hence the cost and lag on PC platform.

In fact if you take any high end gpu you will find that in RAW tests it outperfoms even the fastest CPU in pure number crunching.

know that. But GPU these days is like a mini mobo, with all components attached to each other and working together. This makes us think. Isn't the motherboard technology of today in a bad state ? I keep wishing there was a way to go back in time and save the Amiga and kill the PC. An amiga would have evolved to a much larger extent by now than a PC.

No it is not! A mobo has so many components interconnected which you can't even think of!

Again, No it is not!

What makes you think the PC hasn't evolved???

1. agreed, but anything can be improved. Bill Gates once said 512 kb of disc space ought to be enough for anybody, and contradictors were kicked on the a$$. But now he laughs it off.

2. ..........

3. Read point #1. Do we have a seperate section of reserved hardware for a built in sandbox security that tries every thing on this sandbox before executing them on the main computer, and checks if they are fit to be executed ? Do all motherboards come with hardware firewalls ? Due to commercialisation a lot many things were slowed down in developement of computers.

Dude, apart from giving users the technology to play with they also haf the cost constraint!!! So they need to strike a balance between the two.

How costly were Amigas and what about present day PCs? They need to take care of cost considerations too.
