Day linux becomes non-OSS, there are 100's more candidates waiting to rise, GNU/Hurd, *BSD's, Solaris, ReactOS and more. So, this wishful thinking is useless.
And chances of that happening are none cos linux is just a kernel, it needs GNU utilities and they will never become proprietory cos the basis of GNU is freedom. So, if Linux goes proprietory it looses it's community support meaning instant death.

If they break it then the software will cease to exist cos the whole community will never break away and every thing in free software world depends on the community. And this community likes having source that is open and they will disown proprietory software. Meaning doomsday for it.

Atleast by this time kernel 2.6.19 is GPLed. Even if the future version is not GPLed, there are lot of ppl who'll be continuing from the last GPLed version.
