High without substance...
AMD X2 6000+
ASUS M2A-VM
1*2 GB DDR2 800
Asus EN8600GT 256MB

and please suggest a suitable SMPS.

is this good enough for post HL2 games.i play games at 1024*768 only.

will this config have any bottleneck?
i am a AMD fan and want to stick to it.

i posted in QnA section and i was suggested

Amd 5200 + 2.7 brisbane or amd 5000 black edition
asus M2N-E or MSI K9N ultra
2gb 800mhz ram

where can i get these bangalore.

Yup, its enuf for todays games. The bottleneck will be the 8600GT GPU. But its more than enuf to play @ 1024*768 maxed out.

if you throw in atlease another 512 mb ram(making it 2+0.5 gb), you may concider an Ati mobo with onboard AMD 690 G if you are an amd fan. onboard these days is still good enough for gaming if you allot max memory for it.

no ..... dnt disturb ur dual channel config for mere 512 more ram ..........

ur choice is good enough ...... or if u want to overclock thn consider
Asus M2NPV VM ..........

Get M2N E or some nforce ultra boards from MSI instead of M2A VM or M2N PV VM or MX.
Ultra boards are pure performance boards with oodles of features, nd M2N E costs only 4k or less and its an ATX mobo with copper heatpipes.

ok so its M2NE.

and how can i avoid bottleneck at my Card?
will adding one more GB of ram solve it?

and also later when i get a job that is(5-6 months) may be just may be i could go for a 8800:razz:

but its 8600GT for now.

don't add anymore RAM....leave it 1gbx2 in dual-channel.

8600GT is gud enuf for now, but yeah, as soon as u can, go for the 8800GT

Some info on processor:

AMD has recently released new Brisbane BE series (successor to Brisbane series) and has omitted "64" from processor name.

It's just Athlon X2 now.

eg: Athlon X2 BE-2400. Runs at 2.3GHz, part number ADH2400IAA5DO. This one has really good overclocking potential and has damn low power consumption @ 45W. Released on October 8th.

take a printout of the following two documents before buying the processor and make sure you get the latest release.:

1)Complete list of AMD Processors (except the latest Athlon X2) : "*en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Athlon_64_microprocessors#Athlon_64_X2"

2) List of Brisbane BE series processors:

*en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Athlon_X2_microprocessors

This one can be overclocked to 3.5Ghz+ on stock cooling.

Why don't you get 8800GT. I think it's just 12k and it's perfomance equals 20-25k cards. Totally new architecture. Worth every penny.

8800GT is not an option now, no money.
2-3 years later i will buy then best card.
and this BE series is it available in bangalore and what is the cost of this CPU?
also my budget 25K max.
monitor keyboard are all there.

just these and a tower with powersuppy(suggest me one for this config) i will be overclocking too.

Athlon X2 BE-2400 at 2.3GHz for Rs.4,206.62 ($104);
the Athlon LE-1620 and LE-1600 at 2.4GHz and 2.2GHz for Rs.2,143.76 ($53) and Rs.1,901.07 ($47), respectively;
All pricing is for batches of 1,000 units.

Wohhh....now hold on fellas!
I should say if AMD is the choice, just wait for 2 more months and u will see the PHENOM X2 and X3 within good price range!
Since X4 is already in the market....and ...unfortunately...not-selling like hot cakes, but they(Few benchies) say PHENOM performs better than current AMD X2( K8 )architect!

As if u are really wanna look for "BLACK EDITION" then i gotta tell u that its an Awesome overclocker.....i read it somewhere that it can go upto 25X multiplier (Just see for yourself & google around a little bit)!

Another thing, if u are low on budget then buy 8600 GT now but if u need a 8800 GT then u should also consider ATi 3870, which is a hot deal now days and competing with 8800 GT!

If u wish to wait then u should see 9 series from nVidia within next 2 months!

I still feel that if you are on a low budget, go for onboard. As you said, in a few years you will buy something topnotch.

The problem with the black editions is that they are often lacking in L2 Cache. You need atleast 4 mb of it to make your processor look good.

does anybody know any low cost AMD prosessors which have min 4 mb L2 cache and min 2.6 Ghz per core? with overclockability?

if u're gonna use onboard, it would be better u just don't game.....dude, at least go for the 8600GT....upgrade later to some higher end card but don't try to manage with onboard

onboard. hell with onboard. the days of onboard are over buddy. It's gonna be the age of true GPU's. 70-80% of the latest games coming out these days need atleast an 8600GT for some decent frame rate. With onboard gpu, you can count the frame rate yourself.

The card wud be bottleneck coz its the slowest responding component in ur specified config. That is an 8600GT can't keep up with such proccy nd memory speed. So the overall performance wud be limited to the card.
Now get the cheapest 8600GT card out like Zebronics 8600GT for 5k or lower. Dun waste money on XFX or Asus which will be 6k. They are only worth in long run.

And get 8800GTS new[65nm] 512 or 1G. Its faster than 8800GTX/Ultra and wud be just a few 1000 bucks than 8800GT 512.

Get at least 450W gud power supply which will start @ 1.5k.

ok thank you.
i have asked for a 550W power supply he told me it was 2500 and the tower 1200.

as for the others i am waitng for tom, my last exam.
i will go to the shops get the list of what they have and the price and post.
then it will be more easier for me to decide.

You kiddin? Zebronics card? They can't even make proper SMPS and you are suggesting zebronics card.

It's really funny to hear that 8600GT is a bottleneck on a system that has 2.4GHz dual core processor and 2gig ram. Stop giving stupid suggestions. Having 2.4Ghz dual core processor doesn't mean that we should buy 8800GT or the best-in-market card.

And you better read the posts carefully.

So, he needs a card that has to run for atleast 2 years and I wonder how a zebronics card play games that come after 4-5 months from now.

@desiibond
Zebronics cards are bot that bad. Moreover even XFX can't be trusted always. The first series of their 8600GT [UDF7] has serious heating issues while cards from BIG or Zebronics had no issues.
There are soem guys in dis forum with Zeb 8600GT and no probs with them.

@desiibond
And i think Zebronics is better choice for dat 5~6 months as they are almost 1k cheaper and they too haf 3yr warranty .

And u say if he wanna avoid bottleneck on games id that config, he has to get better CPU!!!
I dun think so...With that config, the gaming performance is sure to be limited due to the 8600GT that the CPU.
It gives almost double the performance if it has 8800 instead of a 3GHZ CPU. I think u got the point.

yes. 8800 gives double the performance.

But for a resolution of 1024x768, do you think 8800 is necessary?

Athlon X2 BE 2.4GHz proccy + 8600GT costs around 11k.

8800GT is 13k + Athlon X2 BE 2.4GHz proccy costs aound 18k.

Save that extra 7k and put it in something else like HDD raid setup or loads and loads of RAM etc. What will be better combination?

System is not just for games, When he is not playing games, the system should have enough potential to do multitasking and you know how memory hogging the new softwares are. That's when 2.4GHz CPU comes to the rescue. Does 8800 help Nero 8 burn a DVD while watching movies. No. It's the processor that provides that extra power. I think you got my point.

@chicha, if you need info on where to get BE series, check with Ingram micro
