U R right but I think this config is not too old or outdated so I upgrade it to dual core or 64 bit. Isnt it? BTW for which graphic card to go for in mid range?

Well u shud opt for an AMD Athlon FX proccy.

also, u can try out da AMD proccy mentioned in Agent001 section of DIGIT OCT '05 issue.

BTW i don't think dat ur mobo supports AMD as it runs on INTEL.
so if does not support AMD then don't think of upgrading to better Intel CPU. ur current CPU is allright.

2.93 Ghz is really good enough for normal users. Though, you have not mentioned your graphics card. You could always upgrade it to decent 128 or 256 MB graphics card (AGP or PCle). Other than that, your specs are pretty good and you don't have the need to upgrade at all. Wait for 7 months, Dual-Cores would be roolin the roost then, buy a better computer then. I think your current comp would be able to play 95% games and run all the apps without much of a prob.

Your computer just needs 2 things ..
+ RAM .. reach atleast 512MB
+ A decent graphics card.. look for a 256MB one .. or else 128MB too is worth the money.
Everything else .. is "good" by any standard .. if not insanely "latest".

You can upgarade to better system .. instead of replacing the whole thing. :p

Yes, this is what Iam thinking! I surely upgrade to vista on its first day of launch. Can you plz tell the vista's minimum hardware requirement. Whats about the prices of 256 mb graphics card in the market. Last thing my is in warranty. So i think it is better to get an upgarde from company. Do companies provide upgrades like gfx cards? Is their prices are high compare to ordinary bazaar walas?

i must say vista is kinda real heavy on the system,
as far as my knowledge goes it,s min ram requirement is 512 and 1gb is recommended with a 256\mb graphics card

u can buy ur upgrades from the company but they do cost a higher
so i suggest u buy it from a reliable dealer outside....

In my opinion your config seems just fine. Just add some RAM and if you play games then the graphics card. At least wait till 64bit becomes usable and Dual-core processing become mainstream...
