A bench comprising Chief Justice Altamas Kabir and Justices A R Dave and Vikramjit Sen issued the notice on a petition filed by Indore-based advocate Kamlesh Vaswani alleging the current laws have failed to curb the growth of pornography and that it was affecting the younger generation and even causing in surge of sexual assaults on women.

Is really pornography one of the major causes of sexual assaults on women? Atleast 5-10% of the think digit readers watch porn on daily basis. And even if they block pornographic websites from the internet, cant people watch it using The Onion Router(For those who don't know) or any other deep web?? As before going to any pornographic website says only 18 and above, then why did the govt. chose age of consent to be 16??it should have been 18 only.

Last thing I want to say to Indian govt is "whatever ways you try to block pornography it will not be reduced."

P.S.-All my friends and I watch porn, but we do respect feminine gender and don't do lawless activities like rape.

As I have already said in other threads, wrong info and lack of education is the root cause of these assaults on women. There are videos of real rape,and I don't consider it to be pornography, so I won't touch on that.
Just because a rapist raped someone and watched pornography does not mean that the pornography caused the rape. The rapist has always had the capacity for such cruelty regardless of any other factor.
Viewing porn won't suddenly turn kind, responsible men into sex maniacs, who rape others. The notion itself is absurd and laughable. Its like saying, since you have read Mein Kalf, you are a Nazi. Just because you frag people in Counter Strike doesn't mean you will go shooting in the real world.
Ok, am not a proponent of porn, but don't majority of movies also depict women as sex-objects? We must distinguish ideas and fantasies from actions and reality.
Many of the government's laws contradicts itself. Though "usually" they are drafted for the over-all well-being, but by the time it gets passed, it would have usually surpassed its usefulness and be more of a hindrance.

No, thinking with one's dick instead of the brain is the cause of such horrors. It's the neanderthal mentality of "Want it, will have it" that compels a person to stoop to such lows.
The logic, or rather the lack of it, in that PIL makes it open to ridicule.
