the ram market has shifted from RD, SD to DDR and now DDR2. How much will the DDR2 Ram improve performance over the DDR Ram.

What will be the different in price between the DDR and DDR2 Ram's?

Are the latest motherboards compatible with DDR2 Ram technology?

ddr2 is still not a standard
its still a few mhz from overtakin ddr in actual performace difference
diff in price is a few hundred rupees
ddr2 will not show considerable performance gain till it reaches the 667 mhz mark
other advantage of ddr2 : low poer consumption

nforce 4 for amd is still not compatible with ddr2
as of now only intels new chipset lga775 compatible boards (915/925 chipsets) are compatible with ddr2

AMD needs to increase the number of pins in their processors to support DDR2 , which means a support nightmare , do not expect until 2006 Q4 :)

theraven is right. DDR2 is indeed a performance gain over DDR but not by much. The DDR2's magic would be visible when it has crossed the speeds of 667MHz and there are some better motherboards with more FSB over 1000 MHz. This new standard is not that common as of now but definately the near future of RAM lies here coz of its low power consumption and higher performance. But then who knows we might see GDDR in the desktop or even DDR3! Looks like the RAM is the only performance increasing aspect in the PC as the processor speeds aren't going to go any higher for some time. The RAM speed does not match the processor and proves to be a bottleneck. So need better and fast RAMs and not processor.

Yeah until low latencies and low prices are achieved DDR2 isn't gonna be the in-thing any time soon. Also acceptance from AMD's side is crucial for this technology to have mass acceptance.
