ipod service in india

Hi friends,
i recently got battery problem with my ipod touch.i stay in hyderabad and i took it to ample services (suggested by apple show room people) in punjagutta.But after i observed the way they responded,i started doubting them
They told me i will get a replacement for entire itouch(of course not with a new sealed piece) and not just battery.when i asked them ..why,they told me there is no one in india who can open a itouch to replace the battery.
so friends,can u tell me what type of warranty the apple is offering for battery problems in india
and can u tell me whether i can believe this people.
