ok maybe i shouldnt have relyed on fudzilla but the iphone is overpriced u will agree to this & check out the engadget link their r better deals available than the iphone. IMHO

This depends on what your requirement is.

iphone is actually an ipod that can make calls. This way, it's a terrific product. It's the best ipod ever made.

Internet. The iphone is the best in terms of internet browsing ( for smart phones).

$600 is the starting price of a new phone that has so much new features in it.

Take any such products. ipod, N95, Blackberry phones, PC components.

If there is any new never-ever before product, the price wil be high.

They include the research, marketing etc costs in the price. As weeks go, the price is reduced.

DO you remember the cost of first ever ipod?

5GB $399
10GB $499

9 months later, they released 2nd gen with touch sensitive clickwheel:

10GB: $399
20GB: $499

N95, now costs $675-$800. after few weeks/months, who knows, we may get it for $99 on a 1/2yr contract

Oh man, please go through the engadget link and check the service fee. Even they gave a detail list and it is very clear that the service fee is not at all high, it is very close to the normal rates. There is nothing like "too high" as service fee.

If that is not all

from the engadget -
the iPhone plans are totally fair, based on AT&T's current pricing scheme.

and
Shockingly enough, iPhone users actually stand to save a decent chunk of change if they're on family plans

Again the same request - Please contact your friends in US, or check the AT & T website or any other mobile companies and you will know

checked out with my cousin in US. he told me abt the hype over there.people buying it & loving it or hating it but we have to give credit to apple for creatin the hype.
looks like u apple fanboys wont leave me:D. i agree it is a good phone but it has some glaring omissions as no 3g,no user replaceable battery etc.which i expect in a $600 phone(actually everyone expects).

all in all i was just tryin to give u the views of some people on the net

i think we should end the discussion here :)

Apple Announces $85.95 iPhone Battery Replacement Program:mad:

All data on your iPhone will be erased when you send it off, so Apple suggests that you backup all of your important information with iTunes before sending it off.

Considering that an iPhone sent in for servicing could be out of the owners hand for as much as a week or more (including shipping time), Apple has another program in place for customers. If you absolutely can't live without your iPhone, Apple will rent you an iPhone for $29 while your device is being serviced.

In the end, it seems like a pretty big hassle for what could be accomplished with a simple, user-replaceable battery.

That's almost the cost of a laptop battery!! I know they are charging for the service but why didn't they made it user replaceable to begin with, and how can live over a week with out a cell phone these days.
The batteries better be good or there is going to be a lot of angry people.

Yup, we know they are ripping. But Macboys obviously won't agree to it. For them paying $85 for replacing the battery is better then paying $20 for the battery & replacing yourself.

Imagine an Apple World.

Apple likes to keep things simple. They don't want people to open the iPhone like we can in our SE or Nokia Phones & change the battery as it can lead to confusion about which way the battery should go :D. See they love (read: screw) there customers so much. They don't want the customers to do a very very tough job of opening up the phone by just sliding the back cover. It could get very complex, so Apple has offered to do it themselves for a modest charge of $85, compared to the very high charge of $20 for other phones battery in which case you have to slide the phone cover yourself.

The benefit of paying $85 to Apple for getting a battery of $20 (Example), You don't have to open the back cover. :D

We are discussing this in the official iPhone thread already.

The "Official" iPhone thread is already there in this section and it is "Exclusively" for listing the problems / shortcomings / issues / negative points. We are all discussing the battery replacement program and related issues already there.

So why diverting this thread to battery replacement issue ?

I posted some as you compared the rates (mobile phone rates) but now both the threads discuss same thing !!
