Hi !

Now that I've got myself a crossover cable and connected to both the PC's I have and configured them properly I still can't get my two computers to connect to each other !

1) There is nothing wrong with my wires as when I connect the cable to my router I can acces the net on both the PC's but the thing is that a hardware router doesn't allow file sharing AFAIK.

That's why I need to use the internet connection sharing feature of Windows so that I can have a network to share files and internet on both the PC's.

My host has the setting :

IP : 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0

Client has everything set to autodetect. But it never does.

what I think it maybe a services porblem coz I removed certain services from my systems as they werent needed earlier. ( ICS is NOT one of them )
I tried searching google a lot but all the results were far too similar.

What may be the problem ?

My host is Windows XP home and client is XP Prof. I don't think that's causing any problems coz I tried reversing the thing and make my host the client and it still doen't work.

Is there something that I'm missing ?

Please help ....

You use a cross over cable for ICS when connecting directly to a PC and not the ones used to connect to a router
