Intel has had a pretty good run with their Core series of CPUs which are currently on their 3rd generation with Ivy Bridge that was released earlier this year. At IDF 2012 today, David Perlmutter from Intel announced a little more about the 4th generation of this chip. Like the Ivy Bridge platform, the new Processor codenamed Haswell will get a big boost when it comes to graphics capabilities- doubling the performance of the third generation.

Mr. Perlmutter also suggested that at similar performance levels, Haswell will consume half the power that Ivy Bridge consumes. The following video is from his IDF keynote address where he spoke about the new platform.

Expect the new Processors to be available in Ultrabooks and other form factors early next year. No word on pricing as of yet

RIP Intel. Going to stick with SB setup unless AMD comes with something big which can push up the ongoing proceedings at Intel.

Intel shows that Haswell will provide unbeatable performance all day use and more than 10 days of connectivity on standby mode. I hope soon they are going to provide new processors which are available in ultra books in other form most probably on next year. :)

Intel gave two Haswell demonstrations. In the first, he compared a Haswell-based Ultrabook to a reference system using an Ivy Bridge processor that consumes about the same power.
