Intel is dumping plans to release a Pentium 4 processor that runs at 4GHz, saying it will boost performance on next year's chips using other means than clock speed.

True, AMD has proved clock speed isn't everything

Now, I will support Intel again, if they reduce the heat

And the number of transistors on the die. Since the largest amount is used in the on chip cache, just removing the cache would reduce power consumption.

But then you get into, where to find ultra dooper fast ram chips :)

If Intel is not bringing out faster chips, It just means they are unable to get enough yield on them. Not surprising, Intel has been at the bottom of the barrel in terms of technological innovation even buying up others with the capability left and right.
