I have seen some very complicated explanations being given out to users who want to install/update Firefox on Open SuSE. Tarball, compile, blah, blah. It does not have to be so difficult.

Steps for Open SuSE 10.2:
1. Press Alt+F2
2. type
yast
and press enter
3. Type your root password and press enter
4. Click on Installation sources
5. Add the following source *software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/openSUSE_10.2/
6. Click finish
7. Open software management icon in yast
8. type firefox in the search box
9. click on the tick mark next to firefox to update
10. click accept and you've finished!

For those of you using other versions of Open SuSE the link in step 5 differs. Go to *software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/
and select the appropriate subfolder and add its url to yast sources

So for Open SuSE 10.1
*software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/SUSE_Linux_10.1/

Open SuSE 10.0
*software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/SUSE_Linux_10.0/

and SuSE 9.3
*software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/SUSE_Linux_9.3/

Let me know if you have any trouble !

I like the way you give the instructions. Very Basic and Easy to understand for a Noob. I would be looking forward to more.

Thanx

Oh it was posted earlier, I didn't know. I had posted this on my local LUG sometime back *tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ilug-mangalore/message/3181

Anyway, I am a doctor, and doctors teach medical students. That makes me a teacher too :)
