Fedora Core 5 is giving me a real hard time. How am I suppossed to install drivers for ATI 9600?. I tried using yum & doing the yum -y --enablerepo install kmod-fglrx command

but this thing wants to downgrade my kernel to an older version. Whats going on here. Is there any alternate way?.

I downloaded & installed the propeitery ATI drivers from the ATI website, but I still have no acceleration.

Try following this

*stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_5_installation_notes.html#nVidia

It has some foot notes on ATi installation errors. Perhaps thats the problem you are facing?

hmmm... nothing over in that page seems to be helping. I downloaded ATI drivers directly from ATI website & installed them, but whenever I click on the ATI control, I get an error

'Driver does not provide the X11 firegl extensions panel components will operate only partially'

What does it all mean?. Any help will be appreciated.
