the indian govt is downplaying the issue; nothing usual there. a permanent solution would be to get serious and really put our hearts and minds on settling the border issue. continuing with status quo is not the right thing to do. any aggressive actions by us would be disastrous for both parties, more so for us.
So, the only option is to get close to the USA. I do not think Russia is a reliable partner, since russia is close to china.

^^I will take Russia's hand over US anyday. Russia is also aware of the panda's rising. Look at the history of sanctions over India. And then look at current Nuclear deal, a capitulation by our honorable Rajmata's puppet MMS (another nobel prize aspirant) to US interests.
While Obama is trying hard to press on India for CTBT and FMCT (which our MMS will happily sign fall 2009), on the other hand deliberately arming Pakistan with weapons which are clearly not meant for terrorism but only to be directed against Indian land. Talks about carbon emissions too, it seems India's 3 % is the only factor against 75% by West in total carbon emission. Another nobel peace prize aspirant...lol.

It is a grave mistake to admit that Tibet is part of China... By agreeing to that, India has given more ammunition to China's propaganda, that Arunanchal pradesh is part of China...
Because , the disputed Tawang Tract was ceded to India by the Tibetian Governement at that time (In 1913, the representatives of china ,Great Britain Tibet met in the Simla and agreed for a redraw of a map,which include Tawang within India.
But later the Chinese refuted the treaty saying,that the Tibetan government should not have been allowed to make a such a treaty, rejecting Tibet's claims of independent rule.)
This is the main reason that chinese backed media run a mack 'split India' campaign .. this little prop are part of psychological warfare... "Sun Ztu" the great chinese Master of war has eloporated how to win a war without even drawing a single sword..

i think indian govt don't want war at this time and that's why it is neglecting all these attacks and trying to be peacefull with China. China is stronger than India as compared by the army. But remember every thing has right time when it must be done. So China will be punished by India but not now as they are much stronger than us.

@kanjar: its hard to understand why the USA is arming pakistan. If the US turned hostile to pakistan, then pakistan would get even closer to china than what it already is. that would be bad for both india and the USA.
talking about global warming, if you considered land and water and noise pollution, exploitation of natural resources, dumping of sewage into rivers and other negatives, india would be far ahead of the USA. The US is taking big steps at reducing its CO2 emissions, investing billions into research of alternate sources of energy. The US govt funds billions of dollars for research in that area. The electric car industry is growing at a fast pace in the US, thanks to consumer awareness and their govt.
if you consider the above factors, the US is a whole lot more greener than india. they recycle most of what they use and have hundreds of recycling plants all over the country.
Sooner or later, we would have to make the switch from fossil fuel to something else, so why not start taking steps right now? Lets not pin the blame on somebody else, global warming is going to affect all of us.
