With full state honours, Colonel Munindra Nath Rai, the commanding officer of 42 Rashtriya Rifles, is being cremated in New Delhi on Thursday. Commissioned into the 9 Gorkha Rifles, the 39-year-old Colonel Rai was martyred along with Jammu and Kashmir Police constable Sanjeev Singh in an encounter with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in Tral area of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening. The brave soldier was honoured with a Yudh Sena Medal on Republic Day, just a day before being martyred in an encounter in which two terrorists were also killed. The Army on Wednesday paid tribute to the martyr remembering him as a courageous officer who led from the front.

Defence should be at its offensive best now, should hunt down terrorists, those who assist them be put behind bars.
We have people like Gilani elected(mla) in past, thanks to people there. There's no simple solution for them in Kashmir unless some reforms takes place..may be abolishment of section370 somehow, doesn't seem feasible in near future though.

yes, forceful measures won't yield very fruitful results i think. due to lack of info, the people i guess there don't know under what burning turmoil is PoK, and how the citizens there are struggling to get off the clutches of the pakis. perhaps the change in tune of gilani (from "pakistan hamaara hai" to just "azadi") has something to do with it. though those people don't realise that if even they were to go separate from India and pak both, in no time would pak usurp the territory and present it in a bowl to its chinese masters! reforms of all kinds are needed there WIE, though in phases.

and this is one of the grey areas of 'democracy', the point where i see the meaning and application of this concept utterly redundant, but which is still nevertheless being carried on with, superficially, for the sake of adhering to definition & emotion! democracy is for the good of the people, then why nurture some beings that are bent against the well-being of a larger section, in order to pander to a smaller, ill-informed, imprudent section?! i was wondering with sadness, the jawans who saved these gilanis and maliks from the floods and took them on their boats to safety & shelter, how/what would've they felt doing so! they perhaps took it in their spirit of doing their duty, though on those moments, with a terrible heartache!
