Its foolish to look at PCIE 3.0 through add-on chips because the CPU doesnt have the bandwidth for it.

I even detest using NF200/other chips for 3-way SLI/CFX on SB socket 1155 mobos because the CPU itself does not have the required number of lanes.

Its like creating an 8 toll gates for a 4 lane highway. Not much benefit in this route

BTW Vpro has more connectivity, more efficient VRM design, more PCIE slots.

Reason enough IMHO.

^^ You got it wrong there. Then NF200 chip comes into play because the pci-express controller in sandybridge chips has 16 lanes. So this provides additional lanes to increase communication channel for available bandwidth.

It has been tested that nf200 chips additional lanes does help scaling and overall performance of a dual or triple gpu setup. It cannot be detested just like that.

Hi, you can also consider MSI Z68A-GD80(B3).Currently I am using this board.....its rock solid board .Warranty support also better than rashi...IMO.:)

I didnt disagree there. But the performance boost is much less than true PCIE lanes.

think about how 8 toll gates would work in a 4-lane highway, and you will see how NF200 works on socket 1155 SB. The boost is not significant enough to get good scaling(90%+).

guyz look i was just doing price comparision & availiability on gen3 boards because they are some what futureproof compared to current boards...unless intel guyz wake-up in bad mood and decide to remove compatibility of ivy-bridge from z68 platform...!

i may be in mood to upgrade to ivy bridge in q4 of next year so this board might help me save some bucks....thats why im in look out for gen3 board...!

^^ That's not gonna happen. Its confirmed that all cougar point chipsets (h61,h67,p67&z68) will support 22nm cpu's. Ivybridge although will get its own chipset termed panther point.

So rest assure mate. You ain't gonna be loosing any sort of upgradability.:)

^^thanks for the reply mate.....
now only question remain of avaliability here in Mumbai!!!!
i think i will have to w8 for another 1~2 weeks to get it

What Vickybat said is correct (for once :D). Since the PCIE lanes are integrated in the CPU, you get PCIE 3.0 (20 lanes) with Ivy Bridge.

hey megamind are msi boards that reliable?
cause im confused between the two....asus p8z68-v(gen3) & msi z68-gd65(gen3)
If i vouch for one of the two will it be a reliable buy, especially in India?
and howz the warranty cover on these two boards?

Looks good, but what is lacking in your motherboard? (i.e. what is the noticeable improvement?)

Not bothered about PCIe 3.0 honestly. Graphic cards are not even utilizing PCIe 2.0 8x fully.

This is "pseudofutureproofing"...nothing more than a feel good factor.

ya as i said before...just incase if i shift to ivy bridge later in 2012 then i wont have to buy again new board...and u know how costly intel based boards have gotten...
i dont mind spending just a little for what we call "future proofing" as im going to buy gen3 gpu(i have stalled my gpu purchase for SI's)
