I simply couldn't believe it when I read this. It looked like an April fool's joke at first but then it is not April.

...and they are already thinking about sending a cake back that reads "Congratulations on getting tabs! Love, 2001″ :D

Well, anybody can send a cake with IE Team name on it... I dont see any reason to believe or disbelieve it was actually from IE... For all you know, it could be a prank pulled by a Mozilla team member itself, or it could be a publicity stunt...

If it is a prank, publicity stunt or has been sent by "anybody" with IE Team written on it then there should have been an official denial on IE Team Blog Page?

Did you check the link I gave? It links you to the blog of IE Team.
