Who needs the error reporting service anyways? This service was embedded in XP so that they could fix bugs left in XP in newer versions of Windows. But they haven't done so. Many of the bugs in XP still continue to prevail in Vista. Just turn that service off, nobody needs it.
Right Click on My Computer icon on desktop (or start menu, if you use the XP style start menu) >> Properties >> Advanced >> Error Reporting >> Disable Error Reporting. You can chose to be notified when critical errors occur, though even after being notified, there isn't much to do that can undo the damge caused to your system.
