i v RHEL5 on my system.
my system is a Intel Pentium D 102GGC. i don't have any external graphics card.

1)sud i download the graphics drivers frm the manufacturer's website (Intel) or sud be downloading any updated kernal for the distro for better video/graphics display?

2)RH site doesnt giv any updates. is there any other site which givs updates for the same?? (legally) free of cost.

3) for RH related distros, to install something we install the RPMs!! is it the same for other distros of linux as well?

1. Latest Linux Kernel is must else drivers won't work,,,
2. Don't have any idea about RHEL but free Linux OS provide updates for quite a lot of time.
3. Yes download it from ATI site..

You have ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Inbuilt Graphics.

NO, not all distros use the RPM package. opensuse, mandriva, redhat, fedora are some examples of RPM package manager based distros.
On the other hand, Debian, ubuntu, mint are examples of distros that use the DEB package format. So in debian or ubuntu, you have to use the deb package not rpm.
Some distros use .tar.gz format files. so, its different for differnt distros.
