1)how to find how much heat laptop dissipates?
2)how to minimise the heat without cooling pad?

sometimes i play games other time it will be idle

You cant really find out the heat as such. but if its the temperature that is you are after, you can use some software like Speccy or GPUZ.

Dont use the laptop on a bed or some other similar surface which can block the cooling vents. If possible raise the back of the laptop to say an inch or two. Use a couple of books on either side (taking care not to block the intake vents) to allow the intake to breathe freely.

Set the power scheme to power saver if you are not using it for intensive tasks..

close to two months now. no major issues apart from a slight problem with the speakers, which was rectified immediately. Its fast and runs cool and got a great keyboard. and of course gaming, although college means i havent been able to do that as much as i'd like.. ;)

i know its not equal to dell ,but since i m new to HP i want to know abt it
