to use hibernate function, you need to enable it first.
to enable hibernation, go to control panel--->power options ---->hibernate----->enable hibernation.
to hibernate, go to start, turn off. In the confirming window, press shift. You will notice that the standby icon changes to hibernate. click it to hibernate.

you must shut down your system properly everytime using start-->turn off ---->shutdown. then there wont be scandisk.
if you cancel the scandisk one time, it will automatically come the next time you boot into XP. so dont avoid scan disks. if you cancelled it then in type chkdsk in start-->run and execute it.

do this, Go to Start>Run and type cmd and press Enter.
At Command Prompt, type CHKNTFS /D and pess Enter.
Here there is a SPACE between CHKNTFS and /D, and u have type /D only and D means Default (not D: DRive).

After u run this command, u REBOOT the PC, here XP should scan the Disks one time (DONT CANCEL), after this u will not get the chkdsk again at startup....
