how to remove these unseen files

guys i have this c partition of 9.31 gb and it has 3.68 gb of data size on disk including that of hidden files, but the actual space occupied is showin 7.13 gb with only 2.17 of free space now i want to know how to clear my disk and get this space back cos these files i cnt find no where and would it be alright to delete this data

Clear your system restore points if they are the cause for this. usually ME and 98 have these issues.

hidden files could be the os required system files. not safe to delete them.
use the winxp disk cleaner utility to clear sysrestore ponts, etc
and cccleaner www.ccleaner.com to clear disk space.

Click Start -> All Programs -> Acssessories -> System Tools -> Dics Cleanup

Run it for "C" drive, check all the option and then then click OK. You can also go to "More Option" to free more disc space by removing all but the most recent restore point.
