Somebody please let me know how to connect 20 pin SMPS power outlet to a 24 pin M Board like A8N-E. Will there be any problem? Local assemblers say they have been doing it with A8 N-E boards and so far there has not been any problem. Also they say the 20 pin will go only the right way into the MB socket and so there so need to take special care with it. Please help

Also is there any adjustment or tweak needed to get 300 MB/S from Hitachi 80 GB SATA II Deskstar HDD

The extra 4 pins in a 24-pin connector carry additional wires for the 12-volt line and for ground (negative). These two lines are already present in the standard 20-pin connector, but the extra wires provide a wider path for the current.

The latest processors use a lot of power and it's best to have those extra wires. However, a 20-pin connector will work fine in most cases.

Regarding the connector itself, if you look closely at the plastic frame, you will see that the holes housing each pin have different shapes. They are keyed so that they can be plugged in only in the correct manner - that is, unless you use a very strong pressure to force it to go in the wrong way.
