How to Block Youtube Ads

What method are you guys using to block youtube ads (which plays before a video or in between video) in your Android phone.
Please suggest Non-Root method as Rooted ones are many available.

I use Blokada with Adguard DNS for general ad blocking. Does not need root.

But I also only use Newpipe instead of the official Youtube app so that does not play ads in general, so using Blokada just for blocking ads is moot in this case.

after having tried newpipe & pure tuber (and may be 1-2 more), settled now on youtube-vanced. best of all! made me realize what i was missing all this time! give it a try @Zangetsu till its still there. you wont feel anything amiss (except the annoyance of the bombardment of ads)!

yes. install vanced-manager apk. that will guide you to install an app named 'micro-g', that lets you sign-in to your YT acct (what version of micro-g is to be installed, will have to be ascertained based on your phone's cpu-architecture). micro-g can be downloaded & installed separately too without vanced-manager. the vanced-manager also assists you in updating these apps. though one quirk would be, that it'd ask you to turn off your OS's optimization features (particularly for MIUI i think). for many, this isn't bothersome. but to me, it was troublesome on my phone. a workaround to that i discovered was, that you need to turn the optimizations off only if you wish to update the apps AFAIK. for normal operation of YT-vanced, you dont need to keep the optimizations turned off. so just do it once when you are to install micro-g, and then turn the optimizations back on after that.

I tried both and SmartTubeNext was the one that worked with the remote on Mi Box 4K.

tried smartubenext just now. fantastic app! really impressed. some months back when i didnt know that it had a github-page, i had downloaded it off of an appstore & as the github-page advises, it was something else, some different app with the same name most probably. crappy UI & experience it was, so was doubtful this time around too, suspecting that it might be the same thing. but pleasantly surprised now. snappy & slick UI, smooth operation. best features i liked were no homescreen refresh (like happens on official YT app), variable playback speeds upto 3x, vid-description, vid doesnt pause upon forwarding or reversing but keeps on playing, background/screen-off playback, and,...,more to be discovered..

not sure if now i need vanced too, but might just test that too for the heck of it.

P.S. - more really nice helpful features -- when you highlight a vid-thumbnail, the title scrolls sideways letting you read it fully. also, the volume seems to be higher than that on the official app.

two little letdowns though -- no incognito mode, and re-signin after signing-out requires again entering activation-code on the phone.

You can simply download a third-party ad blocker app on your Android smartphone. Just go to Play Store and install the “Free Adblocker Browser: Adblock & Private Browser” app. While you can choose to download any other app, we tried this service as it was pretty effective. It is basically a browser, which helps block most of the ads on any site you visit using it.

All you need to do is use it for YouTube. Before you start using it, the app asks you which search engine you would to use and you can select Google if you don’t want to try any other service. Then type YouTube on the search bar and start using YouTube without any ads. You won’t be required to sign in to your account, which is a good thing for privacy-conscious users.
