hey....
i believe that desktop icons use SOME vital memory.......
so anyone know how to make them invisible WITHOUT the use of any xtraa programs.... ie. just registry tweaks......
such a tweak that "in explorer we can actually browse the desktop and see the files.... but on the usual desktop we can't" :D [/u]

In Win98SE here's how you do.

Right Click on Desktop, go to Properties.

Go to Effects Tab and select Hide icons when desktop is viewed as Web Page

Go to Web and select View my Active Desktop as web page

Pretty Simple. Isn't it? :)

But if memory is the issue here, than viewing desktop as web page will take more memory than otherwise it takes

Right Click on the Desktop, then go to Active Desktop and select View As Webpage.
Then again Right Click on the Desktop and go to "Properties".
There in "Effects" tab, select the option "Hide icons when Desktop is viewed as Webpage".

or u can use softwares such as DesktopKeeper to make all icons transparent...
