use wvdialconf to detect and config your modem the command is wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
There are no drivers required for this modem in linux just connect it to the serial port and config it (I hope its a serial modem and not a usb one )

Come on It will work It alwase Works Give it a Try wvdial needs no arguments. Once the modem is detected then you have to edit the /etc/wvdial.conf file to fill in the username password etc. We are talking about and external modem dont mix it up with what you did when you had an internal modem. With internal modems the story is completly diffrent. Give it a try and trust me it WILL WORK.
