How can I get back my Winxp

I made Duel boot with two partition C-Drive with win98 & D-Drive with winxp. Recently i formated my C-Drive which has win98 & reinstall it. Now I didn't get the OS choice menu from where i can select win98 or winxp. When i start pc win98 directly start. How can I get OS option menu so that i can operate both win98 & winxp.

edit your c:\boot.ini so that it looks like this

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
c:\="Microsoft Windows 98"

first u will have to change the read only attributes of c:\boot.ini

muthiya2000, boot from your Windows XP cd and choose the option Repair Existing Windows Installation/Recovery Console

when you come to the dos prompt, simply type:
fixmbr
followed by the command:
fixboot

vysakh I didn't find boot.ini on my c-drive.

go to my computer--->tools--->folder options---->view---->advanced settings--->

uncheck the option--hide protected operating system files (recommended)

also select show hidden files and folders

bro..xp uses amny other files apart fm boot.ini ..like ntldr.exe ..etc..so just plain boot .ini wont work try what busyanuj told u...

Boot off the Windows XP Recovery CD, then go to the Recovery Console and type in:

bootcfg /scan
to scan and add existing Windows installations to your boot list

or

bootcfg /rebuild
to rebuild your boot file and automatically add all available Windows installations to the boot list.

Boot with the XP bootable CD and select the option which says "REPAIR an existing installation of WinXP"

U will be relieved !
