1. My max budget is Rs.80000/-
2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
3. My purpose is of two types mainly : 1. Gaming, i m nt a hardcore gamer but would like my machine to play latest games at high settings. 2. i watch Blu-ray movies and have a 1 TB collection
4. Overclocking - No coz i m scared it wil destroy my CPU as i do not know properly how to do it.
5. Windows 7
6. 1TB
7. Screen resolution not decided coz i have to buy a monitor which also I am asking u. I have a budget of 13000 for monitor and watch blu-ray movies
8. Hardware knowledge = 6.5 i guess. i try to keep myself updated as i buy chip magazine every month
9. This will be my firdt assemble although i have tried assembling for my friends 3 years back
10. Within 2 days
11. Yes, i m looking for future proof configuration as i wil not be given money to buy another computer part for next 3 years
12. No, i want all components in my new rig
13. I live in Mumbai near Lamington road but i find shopkeepers at lamington road non-useful as they have no time to explain why this motherboard or why that. also there hardware knowledge seems Zero when it comes to high end gaming machine components. so pls also suggest a vendor if u know one at lamington road.

14. Now i wud like to mention a few of my own points :
a) My father has told me to buy only INtel processor
b) i definately want a motherboard which will support USB 3.0 . so please suggest me model number along with processsor. i do know that p55 is with i5 and
x58 with i7.
c) i have tried finding a portable hard-disk which is USB 3.0 at lamington road.they say they do not have it. pls tel me where and how to buy one from mumbai only pls. i am not alowed to buy it online.
d) since i watch blu-ray movies but cannot spend more than 3-4K for speaker, which one shud i go for?
e) please suggest a power supply too.i mean how much wattage.i was thinking corsair TX650W

Dude ..the mobo fr i7 is GA-X58A-UD7 . But I have another query . if i buy i5 which is 32 nm manufacture, won't I be saving a lot on electricity. i download a lot of HighDef movies and my computer is ON long hours. Bt then, does 32nm and 45nm electricity usage vary signifacantly or negligible ??
also, u suggested HD5770, wt bout HD5850 ?? Are BenQ monitors reliable ???? i was thinking ViewSonic

I've posted a config with 5850 take a look(if you like) the mobo Gigabyte X58A-UD5 will work with i7, it supports USB3.0 and SATA 3. BTW yup BenQ Monitor's are reliable. You can go for viewsonic but Rahul suggested you the VFM monitor. BenQ's G2020HD, G2220HD, G2420HD is the most VFM in it's range.(DIGIT MONITOR TEST PROVES THAT)

HD5870 will be a better choice. Regarding monitors go preferably with DELL/Samsung. Better companies. Plain and simple. It will not make a world of difference regarding consumption for i5 vs. i7. i7 is the speed kind. Are you interested in any 'special' fan, to keep the system cool..?

^^Well....That's why I suggested him core i5 based solution with better graphics card and with some cooling solution. :)

proccy i7 930. mobo is good. however what happened to the graphics card? only HD5770? and a TX650W to power the whole thing? better get VX550 + HD5850. will suite better.

hats off to this config. just awesome. mix blend for everyone. style. power. GORE

@ altecmayank, theres nothing as futureproof in technology world. when u feel PC slow. simply OC the hell out of it.

I prefer Rahul's configuration cause the 1366 socket will offer more future upgrade probability. Though get the DELL 24". Why would you need the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7, since you will never OC. And get a 5850 vs. a 5770.

reason I went for i5 750 is two-fold :
1. POwer consumption..u might laugh here, but i reckoned with 32 nm in i5 and 45nm in i7, i wud save considerable amount of electricity. i download blu-ray movies and my computer is ON for 60 hrs straight pretty pften
2. u say its offers me better upgrade portability.... i do not understand HOW ? cud pls enlighten me here. also pls add if u can as to why can i5750 not be upgraded in yr plan of action :D
3. Cooler, i have no clue, i was told that is why i m buying it. i do not have much domain knowledge about it . Yes, I wil not be overclocking because I am scared my processor life wil decrease...so have i read somewhere :(

rahul.007

bORn To RIse....
you emphasised on the word "FUTURE PROOF" SO I SUGGESTED i7 930.... its a tad faster than i5 750.... and there is no such big variation in power consumption b\w i5 750 and i7 930.... even if you develop an interest in overclocking some time later, just add a cooler master hyper n520 and you will go way beyond i5 750....

you said "I DONT OVERCLOCK" thats why i left a cooler behind....
