Help!!! Win 8 on restart loop.

My friend purchased dell 17r se laptop a week ago that came preinstalled with win 8. It had only one partition. So I installed mini tool partition wizard software. Then I shrinked c: partition to 300 gb. After that I made a partiton of 600gb from the unallocated space. Then I clicked apply and it said to restart my computer so that mini tool partition can finish the tasks. After that the laptop has gone on a restart loop. It says your pc ran into problem, collecting information,needs to restart etc etc. I tried pressing f8 during startup to bring up the recovery manager but it did nothing. Please help

Try using the recovery disk (i hope its supplied with the laptop) to repair win 8.

it happened to me once a driver cleaning process went wrong, and i was stuck at win8 bsods at the startup..
your safest bet is to use recovery disk, but if you don't have it, try entering into safe mode and undo changes you made...
and entering into safe mode was one of the hardest task in windows 8 for me (pressing f8 don't work on startup and there's no other option to enter into it)..
what i did was to enter into command prompt using win8 installation disc, and then issuing this command:

bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

what it does is that it disables the default win8 bootloader and enables the previous windows bootloader (win7 one), so now you can go into safe mode by pressing f8 during boot process..
to set the default bootloader again:

bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy standard

after you are into safe mode, troubleshoot the problem (try to restore to a previous restore point).

Didn't work. Said something could not load boot file. I tried reset option from win 8 dvd and it said could not find the partition. Please help..

where did that message popped out??? after executing the command??

it is never recommended to modify partition size of any pre-existing windows installation especially in laptops.since it is in warranty contact dell CC & ask if they can restore the win 8 install.

AFAIK Dell provides a OS installation disk right ?? If nothing works then just reinstall the damn thing with preferred partitions.

there is no install disk for pre-installed win 8 in laptops.you have to send it/take it to service center.

I have seen many many people with proper installation disks and I have reinstalled using them, though they work only for that particular machine.

Normally Dell provides only a recovery disk. They dont provide the OEM OS with a pre installed machine.

Finally!!! Got It. Selected windows boot manager under UEFI boot mode by pressing f12 at startup. After that the partition window of mini tool cropped up and everything is fine now. But I have to press f12 each time when powering on. Will see for some tweaks in BIOS. Thanks for your help guys...
