Posting for First time in TDF. :).
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:
Mainly Gaming(Skyrim,BF3,AC3,Cyrsis 3,and upcoming games) some softwares like MATLAB & Photoshop.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:

40k streched to 45k max

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: maybe in 1-2 years

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:

windows 7 or 8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1.5 TB
SSD not required

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:
No
Dell(forgot the model no) res - 1440*900 60hz LCD

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:
Monitor - Dell (1440*900) 60hz LCD
GPU- GTX 460 ( Planning to buy new one next year)
Cabinet - Corsair 400r
PSU- Corsair GS600
Hdd - Seagate Barracuda 0.5TB sata 2
Forgot to add
Keyboard +mouse - Logitech Gaming combo
Pad not required

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: By Feb end or Mid March

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I will be doing the assembling myself

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Bangalore. Buying locally or from online shops whichever is lower

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I am think of buying
Processor - Core i7 3770k/ I5 3570k (Suggest which one to buy)
Mobo - Gigabyte z77 ud3h/Asrock Extreme 6/Msi GD 65 (Suggest which one to buy)
Ram - Corsair Vengence 8GB 1600mhz( 4*2)
Cooler - No idea.

If you want you can drop the Hdd.
I can buy it later. 0.5 TB is good enough for me now :)

cpu: fx 8350 (11000)

At your budget, FX 8350 is more suited and it's a better overclocker and has a better stock cooler. Paired with Asus formula, you'll be able to do a solid overclock. If required, you can upgrade to an aftermarket cooler later.

OP, any specific Reason for sticking with Intel Processor. Although it is a very good choice but AMD FX-8350 will serve your better as per your requirements like MAtlab and Photoshop which are Multi-threaded in nature.

Get a FX-8350 @ 12K + Asus M5990FX Pro R2.0 @ 10K and a standard CPU Cooler like Hyper 212 Evo.

Intel has lower TDP.
77W(ivy) vs 125W(vishera)
Internal GPU not a matter for me.
Plus I want to change from amd to Intel. Been using AMD 4600 for the past 4 years.

Alright, go for intel, its a very good cpu. But make sure you get an aftermarket cooler (preferably the one suggested) for overclocking.
Happy gaming.

If I extend my budget to max 45k, What is the best config I can go for?? Remove the KB, Mouse & Pad. You can even remove the Hdd.

cpu: i7 3770k (20000)
motherboard: asus maximus V gene (16000)
ram: G.SKILL RIPJAWS X 4GB DDR3 1600FSB x2 (1700*2)
Cooler: corsair ch40 (3200) I know water cooling is a bit overkill, but why not get one if you can?

total: 42600

BTW, why dont you get a GPU now?

If you are primarily into gaming, focus on the gpu. There isnt going to be much difference in gaming between i5,i7 or fx8350.
Save money for a good gpu and hd monitor.

Intel rig
CPU : i5 3570k
MOBO : Asus maximus V gene

Amd rig
As Cilus suggested.

RAM : gskill ripjaws 4GB x 2 - 3.4k
HDD : WD 1TB Black - 5.5k
CPU Cooler : CM Hyper 212 Evo - 2.2k

A cpu cooler is a must for OCing the intel rig. For the amd, take the cooler for high OCs.

Will buy when the next series of GPu's come out. My 460 still still has some juice left.
I am into gaming. But not interested in everything ultra settings. Even my monitor resolution is low so 460 suffices. :)
Next year there will be a new hole in my pocket for something shiny. :) :p

Wel, in that case, you can go with the parts I suggested last. Remenber what Myth told, I recommended just because you could afford it and not because you should.

cpu: i5 3570k (14000)
motherboard: asus maximus V gene (16000)
ram: G.SKILL RIPJAWS X 4GB DDR3 1600FSB x2 (1700*2)
HDD: WD 1 TB Black Desktop Internal Hard Drive (WD1002FAEX) (5491 @ flipkart)
cooler: corsair ch40 (3200)
total: 42091

This is perfectly more than sufficient.

Treatment in progress...
If u want an Intel, u cant go wrong with either of the 3570k or 3770k.
It all depends whether u want to save some bucks for a future gpu upgrade, or maybe a HDD now.

Regarding mobo, I see people suggesting asus maximus 5 gene for 16K.

Imho,I dont think you are a die hard overclocker, so would prefer a full ATX for a few thousands less than the mATX!
Considering your needs, the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H, ASUS P8Z77-V, Asrock Z68 Extreme 6 would be fine.

For coolers(I prefer air cooling, water cooling is good, but there have been unfortunate incidents) you can consider CoolerMaster Hyper 412 slim (3.2K), CM TPC 812 (4.1K)...
