Hello everyone. Looking for suggestions regarding laptop buying. Thank you. Please find the requirement, below.
This laptop would be for my sister, so I would not prefer a bulky machine.

1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)

30,000-40,000 INR.

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?

Thin and Light; preferably 14" screen, but 15.6" will also work

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
Coding and programming. The laptop is for my sis. She is doing her Btech.

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
Processor - i5
RAM - 4GB

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Like: HP, Dell, Toshiba
Dislike: Not sure

6) Anything else you would like to say?
Laptop should not get heated up now and then.

I narrowed down to Lenovo B50-80 i5(5th gen)for my sis.. I think this would be a good choice in your case too..
It comes around 35k.
May be you can get at lower price in upcoming diwali sales.

I visited Nehru place last Saturday but could not find any worth mentioning laptop from HP or dell.

Moreover just to share a shopkeeper also said HP/dell/toshiba/Sony are not going well in market now except their business series.. Though I don't trust those guys.. but heard such feedbacks from them..
Rest they were positive about Asus/Acer/Lenovo or rest

Yup. I have also experienced the same. All retailers seem to push these brands only. Might be it's not all about quality, something to do with their incentives. Anyway, I was exploring various options on flipkart, there were few models from HP and Dell as well. I will get back to you with a couple of links. Thanks

As you shared above , usage are - "Coding and programming. The laptop is for my sis. She is doing her Btech."
So if you are ok to spend more, then in HP i would suggest you to get HP Probook. In HP-15-ac123tx model, graphics card wont be of much use for your sis..

Else get Lenovo B series

Thanks everyone. Bought this one: HP Pavilion 15-ab031TX Notebook (M2W74PA) (5th Gen Intel Core i5- 4GB RAM- 1TB HDD- 39.62 cm (15.6)- Windows 8.1- 2GB Graphics)

It has Nvidia 2 GB 940 Graphics Card, so I thought it would be worth for the money. After all the discounts, I got it for ~45K.
