help needed buying netbook

I am thinking of going for a Netbook. However wish to know if it supports external USB DVD RW drive & can msoffice be installed and run on netbook.

Basic purpose is to use it for net, office apps like word/ppt etc and still keep it small size and easy to carry!
Would be great to know any suggestions on brands / model that could be good options for netbook. Thx..

For the kind of usage like surfing the internet and running MS Office, a netbook is the best option. A notebook costs double the price of a netbook and is quite heavy. Why go for a notebook when netbook can serve your purpose.You can find a lots of netbooks within the range of 12,000-20,000 Rs. You can purchase any netbook from a reupted brand. Just look out for whats inside the netbook also and don't just go for looks alone. Look if it has Intel Atom processor or not and check out other features like the RAM and the hard disc space.

You can very well run programs like MS Office on almost all netbooks and provision to connect external DVD is also a common feature.

While buying Netbook, we need to check the following:-

1. What kind of CPu it is using. I think a Dual core one is recommended.
2. Amount of Ram and the maximum size that can be used.
3. HDD size. It is important since netbook users normally carry it, so you should not be out of storage, because netbook normally doesn't come with DVD R/W.
4. Multimedia capability.
5. Battery Life.
