Help me to build new Gaming PC.. I'm fed up with my old one...

Hi Digitians,

I'm looking to upgrade my Desktop in order to play High End games like "Hitman Absolution", "Far Cry 3" etc.

My current Desktop is good, but it stucks when i play Battlefield 3. Even "Hitman :Sniper Challenge" moves very slow even with the low settings.

Here is my current Desktop Configuration :

Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.5 Ghz

Motherboard : ASUS M2N-VM DVI *www.afterdawn.com/hardware/pr...sus_m2n-vm_dvi

Graphic Card : XFX ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB

RAM : 3 GB DDR2

Resolution : 1336 x 768

PSU : iball 450 PSU

Cabinet : iball Big Engine-X



My budget is around 18-20 K, and I'm not considering buying Monitor, DVD Writer, KB and Mouse.

Impressed with your post. I must admit you're absolutely right. Here is my part of information

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Playing high end games like FAR CRY 3, Hitman:Absolution, MOH Warfighter etc.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 18 - 20 K, Yes I can extend the budget if i'll get the best deal may be 2 - 4k more.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: No plan to buy HDD now, I currently have 500 GB HDD which i want to continue.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:No. I have 21 inch DELL Monitor

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: ReUsing (Monitor, HDD, Keyboard, Mouse, DVD Writer)

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: As soon as possible.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes, assembled myself

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Lamington Road, Mumbai

11. Anything else which you would like to say?

mobo: msi h61M-P21 B3 - 2.8K
ram: corsair value ram 4GB - 1.3K
gfx: hd6850 - 9.1K / hd6870 - 11.6K

total - 20.1K with hd6850 / 22.6 with hd6870

Just one suggestion, you may want to keep that 4670 around for a little more time, I have the same card and a similar CPU and am quite sure , your gpu is fine for battlefield 3 (at the resolution you are playing), but its the cpu thats the major bottleneck for gaming.

sir but even a hd 4670 cannot play bf3 comfortably....

Also I'm looking for motherboard having slot for TV tuner cad too. Pls let me know whether the above suggested Mobo supports Tuner card?

no i dont agree with your friend
i have a dh61ww (intel ) mobo and a hd 6770 and have been running this setup for a year with no problem @ all
a usb tv tuner card can also be purchased
but if you need an internal one both the suggested have one pci slot so be least worried......

first of all they both are reliable boards or i say manufacturers ....
and if your TV tuner card is pcie 1X (which is most likely be the case)
then it'll fit in both...
msi have 3 of them and gigabyte have 2
