I want to know if my DVD player can WRITE aka BURN DVD dual layer Discs?
The site's page is very vague about the details... and I have already open Dual Layer DVDs like some movie DVDs, etc.

Please ennervate...

Download Nero infotool and check the capabilities yourself. AFAIK that drive does support Dual layer dvds.

let me tell u... this sucks... really!!!!

I already had Nero InfoTool installed from the original CD which came bundled with the drive. But the analysis says that I cant even read DVD DLs... But then how the heck did I open the June issue's DVD - it was dual layer and also, a few other 4-in-1 movie combo DVDs, which were again DL DVDs... I dont have trust in that InfoTool... so my search continues...

BTW, thanks to all, and please do try to suggest some other way to find out... by then lemme see where I can get a damn cheap DL DVD... ;)

Cheers,
Praveen.

I think this is not correct. Even my 5 year old LG DVD drive (not writer) plays the dual layer "Sound of Music" beautifully. But I think almost all DVD writers manufactured in the recent past are dual layer capable.

I think you will not get it for Rs.80/- as of now. The prices quoted in the online stores are Rs.300/- and more.

The Chip DVD r whatever movie DVD u are talking about is a pressed DVD(DVD ROM/DVD Video) not a DVD+R DL.

thanks @digital_brat...

am sad to hear so... :(

Why should you be sad?
Most of us are having dual layer capable writers, but practically none is using it due to the high cost of the media.

By the time DL disks become really cheap, you may be able to buy a new writer for Rs.1000/-.
