@gold

Hello and welcome to TDF mate.

Coming down to the point:-

In the above config, add another 2gb ddr3 module (prefer corsair xms3 or gskill) , 1TB from wd or seagate @ 2.7k and you are good to go.

But do you have a good ups to power this rig? I want to recommend atleast an APC 650 VA @ 2.6k for the above config.

The psu mentioned by piyush is a good one and can handle cards upto a nvidia gtx 560 or amd radeon 6950.Upgrade later accordingly.

@Piyush
Well, I appreciate the configuration you told me,but that is kind of out of my budget.
Also,if I think of increasing my budget,there's the issue with intel's sandy bridge family.
And also keeping in mind that I just needed the rig for gaming and movies only,will the config u recommended be apt?
But if you can tell me that it is justified and would be good to go with i5 2400(with the issue being resolved) rather than i3 540 ,I could try and increase my budget a bit.
So, what do u say?

can u go for AMD rig?
it will be in your budget and will give almost same performance as that of intel's

No,I will not.
But I can increase my budget for Intel config. if justified for my needs.BTW, is the problem with sandy bridge been resolved?

There is nothing wrong in sandybridge cpu's. The motherboard chipsets had sata 3 problems and they are fixed in the latest B3 Revision boards.

So when buying a sandybridge mobo like p67 or h67 chipsets, look carefully for a bold B3 revision logo. These are the newer and fixed boards.

If the mobo cover does not have the b3 logo, then don't buy it and wait for b3 revised boards to arrive at your place.
