I have a C2D E4400 System with 1 gb ram,geforce 8600 gt on Asus P5B-MX/WiFi-AP,motherboard based on Intel 946 chip set, i want to buy a speaker system (preferably 5.1 ) within a budget of 3 to 3.5 k .

When i contacted my vendor he said that for running a 5.1 speaker system you need an external amplifier and sound card ,and also said that most of the movies don't support 5.1 sound ,and instead told me to buy 2.1 speaker from frontech or logitech .

However

1. My mother board manual says that it dedicatedly support 6 to 7 channels and also shows a logo of EAX Unified .

2. Leave movies many of the game i play like ( eg Crysis and far cry ) have options to enable 5.1 channel .

What should i do ?

U can close ur eyes and get a 5.1 as ur onboard sound chip is 5.1/7.1 compatible.
That vendor is a total fool or is trying to impose an amplifier nd sound card on u. U can go for brands like Creative, Logitech, Altec Lansing etc.
Stay away from brands like Frontech,Intex, Techom etc. They might look nd sound gud, bt has very low build quality.

For 3.5k, u can get Creative T6060 5.1. But i recommend u to increase ur budget to 4.5k and get Logitech X530 5.1.
Sound card makes sound quality better, and it really matters if u have a vegy gud speakers which is 10k+.
Its not worth to get sound card for sub 5k speakers.

Also in the sound manager[on lower rite corner], set speaker configuration to 5.1. It also allow u to test each channel, to see if connected correctly.

thanks thanks thanks

but you see my budget is limited ( As my father is financing it ) ,already he is terrified on the suggestion of buying 5 speakers ( he seems to think that in 5.1 all 5 speaker play simultaneously ),and if i say that to shell 5k then he gonna kill me.

i bought one last year for 3.8k and recently one of ma friend bought it for 3.5k. Its 100% sure its for 3.5k.

take a shotgun nd blast that vendor.
wit, there is another model named Creative 6600 and its a 6.1. Its some 5k+
Ok, now tell vendor to check the price of T6060, nd not 6600.[dun remember correct model]:D

no this one Creative Inspire 6.1 6600, which is costlier.

Only if u set speakers correctly nd use the 5.1 features in games nd gud quality DVD movies.
5.1 is gud for games. Its much better than 2.1
But 5.1 is just waste for regular use nd music
