Hi all,

I want to purchase a desktop. I basically want a PC to surf Internet a lot (24/7), download torrents, watch movies, play with photoshop/flash and occassionally play good high-end games.

I want a rig with AMD proc and good slim wide screen monitor. [If cost fits in, I would also love to go for dual monitor]. I am not able to decide on the remaining specs. Pls help.

Suggest durable and reliable keyboard/mouse.

Also pl give specs for tower, smps, RAM, mobo, etc...

Already have a 1TB external HDD. So not very concerned on having a huge HD internally.

First of all either cut down your wish list or increase your budget at least by 10K. BTW with your applications these specs can be useful.

MOBO Asus M2N68-AM 2.5K
Procy AMD x2 7750 BE 3.5K
RAM 2x2GB DDR2 800MHZ 2K
GFX Palit ATI 4850 512MB DDR3 8.5K
HDD WD 250 GB 2500AAKS 2.4K
DVD writer your choice 1.1K
Cabinet Zebronics bizli (without PSU) 1.3K
PSU Corsair VX450 3.8K
Monitor Samsung 2233 SW 10.5K
Keyboard mouse combo Logitech 0.5K

Approximate 36K but to stay in your 30K budget if you can't stretch your budget at all change G.card with a Palit 9600GT 512MB DDR3 plus PSU with Corsair CX 400 and change the monitor with Samsung 2033.

Ya i can sure extend the budget upto 35k.

Then forget about Palit 9600 cost simply get the first mentioned system.
Good news for you Samsung 2233 SW is a 22" wide screen full HD resolution (1920x1080) LCD.

@ gdatuk For ur GFX card, u cn even consider the MSI Radeon HD 4770 512MB GDDR5 for just Rs.6.5-6.8k!!! Its a great card with great performance that even outshines the 4850 in quite a few tests. Its much more Value For Money if u ask me, plus it runs cooler and consumes lesser power as it is built on the 40nm technology. Should be good for a 24x7 DL machine!

I am also agree with Techalomaniac. If u r not a hard core gamer, 4770 is the card for u.
Save the extra money for good M/B. Go for Biostar TA790G+128M@5k. Its a high end M/B in low end price. It will be future proof becoz it supports all the AMDs latest gen processors (mainly PhenomII). So in future won't be any problem.
The performance difference between 4850 and 4770 is just 10%. And 4770 is lot cooler and a good overclocker.

And for psu, don't go for very high end one. Colorsit 600Watt is available in just 1.7 to 2k.
Go for it.

OK yes he can save 1.5K or so with 4770 then he can go with Corsair CX 400 @3K as well but one should not compromise with Colorsit 600Watt @ 2k for just a difference of mare 1K spacially if PC going to run 24x7 better power efficiency will compensate the premium paid for Corsair CX 400 in less then a year by consuming lesser power then a ell chepo PSU.

Yup, minimum go for the Corsair CX400W, plus if u hv money to spare, then please go for the Cooler Master Elite 334 Cabinet for abt 1800-2200, depending on whr u stay. Its a great cabinet with much better airflow than any zebby cabby. If u ask me, it is worth the buck as in the long run, good cabinets will only help the components u buy as better airflow = cooler temperatures = longer life!

watching movies and downloading torrents>> bigger HDD and bigger screen.
IMO not even HD4770 is necessary, get Palit 9600GT sonic in 5-5.5K.
with current prices u will tend to buy a 500GB HDD as the price difference between 250GB and 500GB is very less, even though u got external HDD of 1 TB

Certainly get good PSU and good cabinet, u will be running ur system for long hours.
As you will be buying a gfx card it doe not matter u have very good onboard gfx, but still u can sa no to what u are getting. all amd mobo come with good gfx.

Gigabyte MA78GM-US2H @ 5.1k or Jetway HA07 Ultra @ 6k or
Biostar A780G M2+ @ 3.2k or Biostar TA790GX 128M @ 5.8k

These would be the best mobos, Biostar and Jetway being most feature rich mobos.
Anyhow go for 780G or better mobos not the MOBO Asus M2N68-AM 2.5K suggested earlier

PSU corsair CX400 and cabinet which have loads of cooling option(if u run long hours ur rig gets heated meaning higher electricity consumption Bijli is good but Zebronics Rage or Cooler master Elite 330 or 334 are better.
Also you need to check option to switch off your gfx card whether u use HD4770 or 9600GT, I think there are maybe some front panel switches which can be put to control that.

I think HD4670 for 4.5k is enought and if he gets a FullHD display, he can forget about gaming (even a little bit) using 9600GT/HD4670.

Look now he can afford to spend 35K and ATI 4770 plus samsung 2033 SW are well within his budget then why to downgrade specs. Take that if goes with 9600GT or HD4670 then he have to downgrade his display as well because these cards are not capable of giving good FPS in gaming with 1920x1080 resolution.

I think he originally sd that he'll be playing high end games occasionally. Maybe that's why he should go for the HD4770. Anyways, my frnd got the Palit 9600GT 512MB GDDR3 and he's able to play Burnout Paradise & HAWX demo @ 1280x1024 with all settings maxed out. So, the choice is gdatuk's!:|

Go for the Zebronics 500 Watt PSU or Colorsit 600 watt at 2k. If u r not a very hard core gamer, these PSUs will satisfy every thing u wanna do. Colorsit is a new one but I went through some reviews in the net. Most of them r highly positive. In the Chandni Market (Comp market place in Kolkata), most of the vendors r referring it as a good PSU.
Other thing is, dont go for such a high end cabinet. Zebronics Crish will be just fine for u.
It will cost u just 1k.
So u r saving almost 2.5k.

dude. I know how much I suffered by using Zebronics and other cheapo grade PSUs. had to change 4 times in 3 years. This time I got fed up and bought Corsair and now I know how much difference a quality PSU gives.

k/B mouse combo will come in 700-800 bucks that too of logitech.
Buy HD4670 or 9600GT will save more bucks, u can save bucks on any rest of the specs IMO

HD4670 is aroun 4.5K and 9600GT around 5.5K or something. go for Palit Sonic edition of HD4670 or 9600GT, quiet good cooling option actually Palit 9600GT Sonic is one of the best Bugy gfx cards.

Palit 9600GT 512MB GDDR3 is now only 4.75k+ shipping at IT Wares, but a gud PSU for 9600GT is a must. btw going for HD4770 or HD4670 is the best for HD decoding and video watching.
