I use Windows XP Service Pack 2 and lately I have been getting the following BSOD:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

At the bottom of the error message it displays a file name - ALCXWDM.SYS that it says is the cause for the error.

I have got this error about 3 times now. I get the error when I play Hitman Contracts.

What should I do? Please help.

The driver file indicates the sound is onboard and you have installed MS drivers. Download and install audio drivers from manufacturers website.

Audio Driver

Its just a few days since I reinstalled windows. I tried updating my audio , AC97 audio driver to the Latest that I got from Digit DVD and my system kept rebooting.

Thats why I reinstalled Windows. :(

Can any one help?

Fresh Stock Since 2005
I also once used to get
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
in Stop Screens.........

My problem was my RAM........ Even it used to so some *.sys files problems.......... But I had a RAM problem............
So, I doubt you even have a hardware problem rather than a driver problem
